With the recent addition of Dillon Brooks via trade, the impact of “Dillon the Villain” has already been made known to people across the league in just one preseason game. He’s getting noticed in the Valley
for what he’s done his entire career.
Former Sun Jae Crowder has weighed in on the shift within the Suns through Brooks’s talents and efforts.
Like Brooks, Crowder had the same impact on the Phoenix Suns. Maybe not to the degree of what Dillon is going to do, but he was still that hard-nosed, rugged defender and was also a bodyguard as well. Guys like Crowder and Brooks are the guys that you want in your locker room to help bring toughness and hustle within the locker room, and that shows on the court.
The Suns, for the past two seasons, have been lacking guys like Dillon Brooks and Jae Crowder. Those are the guys who do stuff that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet night in and night out. They help bring that sense of toughness that you need for 48 minutes a night and for 82 games a season. They make it uncomfortable for other teams to get into their flow of the game on offense. Those are the guys who last longer in the league because teams are always in need of them at all times.
On any NBA roster, you can use a guy like Jae Crowder or Dillon Brooks.
As a Suns fan, this is something you have to be excited about. Other people taking notice of the Suns’ defensive efforts is something I have personally been dreaming about for years now. The Suns will officially be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of things. Brooks will be the start of the culture change when it comes to setting the tone on defense.
Safe to say that will not go unnoticed around the league.
