Brian Farinas looked set to move to Girona in the summer transfer window until Hansi Flick blocked his transfer after being impressed by the youngster in training.
The midfielder has since been promoted to the first-team but has yet to play a single minute for the Catalans in 2026-27.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Girona are still keen on Farinas ahead of the January window and nothing is being ruled out regarding the midfielder’s future.
Girona could be willing to offer Farinas a loan which would hand
the midfielder the opportunity for some playing time and the chance to continue his development.
However, there’s no indication yet of whether Barcelona would sanction a transfer or if Farinas is looking for a loan move in the winter window.
In the meantime, Farinas will be hoping he can finally earn some opportunities between now and January.
He’s being tipped to be a potential option at right-back against Alaves after Xavi Espart was ruled out through injury.
