Bayern Munich have gotten off to a record breaking start in the Bundesliga this season. Brought in to replace Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane has been nothing short of incredible in Munich. The goalkeeper-captain Manuel Neuer gave his take on comparisons between the two.
While Bayern has been fortunate to have a great player replace Lewandowski, sometimes curiosity about comparisons can be inevitable. Captain Manuel Neuer gave a classy response to a question of comparing the current striker to the previous
one at Bayern. Speaking after the Bremen game (via @iMiaSanMia), Neuer said “Everyone knows how good Lewy was for us, and of course Harry is just as good. What he’s doing for us is extraordinary, and this record is unique.”
Lewandowski was an absolute goal machine and continues to do so at Barcelona. While he holds many records, he took 137 games to get to 100 goals for Bayern. While it was not the quickest start, Lewy went on to score 138 goals in the next 116 games. Harry Kane on the other hand has blitzed his way to his first 100 for Bayern in just 104 games, beating the record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland. Kane also happens to play a lot more rounded role sometimes tracking all the way back to his own third. Couple that with an incredible vision to pick out passes, it makes it quite difficult to choose one over the other. If you had to pick one though, who would it be ?
Bayern Munich was the home side in the Bundesliga on Friday when Werder Bremen came to town.
The Bavarians decimated the visitors 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Bayern Munich was relentless and dominant in every aspect of the match. It is not as if Werder Bremen did not try, but the players just could not match up with the machine that was Bayern Munich.
Let’s get into all of the details — here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
