Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hoops
Welcome to Feast Week. Mizzou Basketball is off to a 6-0 start to this young season, but it’s been expected and needed due to their weak non-conference schedule leading
up to this point. That will continue as the Tigers host South Carolina State tonight and Cleveland State on Black Friday afternoon.
Still though, Missouri’s start has been good enough to garner some national attention. While still unranked, Mizzou is receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll that was released yesterday (checking in eight spots outside at No. 33).
In Andy Katz’s latest Power 37 rankings — Missouri comes in at No. 23 (up six spots from last week).
23. Missouri (Prev. 29): Time to give Dennis Gates’ crew some love. They could be the surprise contender in the SEC.
Mizzou comes in at No. 36 in Jon Rothstein’s Top 45, and the Tigers check in at No. 33 on KenPom and No. 31 on Bart Torvik.
Opportunities for resume-building wins will come next week with their SEC/ACC Challenge matchup at Notre Dame on December 2nd and of course the Border War vs kU in Kansas City on December 7th. Both teams actually played each other yesterday with the Jayhawks beating the Fighting Irish 71-61 in the Players’ Era Festival. Follow Feast Week on our general sea thread on RockM+.
It’s safe to say that we’ll know a lot more about this Mizzou Hoops team next week. For more, check out the latest episode of Dive Cuts with Sam Snelling and Matthew Harris.

And a strong start it was, with the Tigers stifling Washington State on their way to a 71-54 win. Shannon Dowell continued her torrid start to life as a Tiger, posting a third double-double, while Grace Slaughter added 13 and 6 in the win.
Despite back-to-back losses to kU and Troy, it’s been a solid 5-2 start to Kellie Harper’s debut seasson.
It’s pretty unfortunate that this Mizzou team is 7-4 with such an elite defense.
Now, I understand running the ball WAS NOT WORKING against Oklahoma but, you know what? Neither was asking your quarterback, fresh off of an ankle injury and not practicing for three weeks, to come in and sling it around.
Despite a rough offensive showing in Norman, Nate breaks down what was an impressive opening drive for Mizzou.
Do so, get a solid bowl game, get to nine wins, retain your head coach and 2025 starts to look like a transition year.
But you can’t do any of that without first dispatching the hogs.
Mizzou comes in as 2.5-point favorites over Arkansas. Get it done in Fayetteville.
Last week, Missouri basketball took on the Panthers of Prairie View A&M and the South Dakota Coyotes. The Tigers remain undefeated with a 6-0 record and will face South Carolina State and Cleveland State this week. Here are the photos of the week!
Some good hoops photos from Hannah after a 2-0 week.
In this edition against Illinois, the dual came down to the heavyweights after great efforts from the 184lbs and 197lbs classes for Mizzou. The Tigers ultimately fell 21-17, but plenty of positives were taken away from several weight classes.
Despite a tough loss to a Top 10 Illinois team at the Hearnes Center, there were some positives for Tiger Style.
