Katie Taylor has made weight for the final time.
On Saturday, the top pound-for-pound female boxer in the world will make the walk for the final time in her career, taking on undefeated fighter Flora Pili at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. At 40 years old, the future Hall of Famer is finally ready to hang up the gloves, and gets to do so in the best possible venue, with undisputed status on the line. And now she’s almost there.
On Friday, Taylor, Pili, and the rest of the fighters on the card all made
weight for Saturday’s event, with Taylor and Pili sharing their final faceoff before the fight.
“I’m just so excited, to be honest,” Taylor said. “I’ve been saying all week how grateful I am for this opportunity. I jsut can’t believe that I’ve been dreaming about this for the last few years and we’re one day away from making this fight happen; one day away from ending my career in my dream venue, in Croke Park.”
Also on the card, former UFC fighter Molly McCann continues her boxing journey, when she takes on Sylwia Doligala on the undercard. McCann is 4-0 in boxing, and went nose-to-nose with Doligala in their face off.
