The Michigan Wolverines picked up a Week 1 win against New Mexico, and up this week is a pivotal road matchup at Oklahoma. We have another long day of waiting with a late kickoff from Norman, so here are five plays to get you ready for the game against the Sooners!
Bryce Underwood’s TD pass to Marlin Klein
Quarterback Bryce Underwood threw this first ever college touchdown to tight end Marlin Klein last weekend. Klein had 93 yards on the night, and it looks like he’ll be a reliable target for Underwood this season. It’s exciting to see Underwood pick
up some points with his arm already, and we’re looking forward to what he’ll be able to accomplish this season.
TJ Guy’s interception
This is definitely going to be a play to remember throughout the season. TJ Guy managed to reel in the interception in the second quarter with one arm. You love to see the guys on the line making big plays like these, but what’s most impressive is Guy’s awareness on the field to make this play.
RB Justice Haynes’ 4th-quarter run
Justice Haynes helped keep the Wolverines’ smash identity alive and well to start the season. He ended the night with three touchdowns and 159 yards. Michigan will need him to have a big night against the Sooners, and he certainly proved in Week 1 he’s got the talent to make it happen.
LB Cole Sullivan’s INT
Cole Sullivan came up big with a goal line interception, giving the Wolverines the stop they needed late in the game. Sullivan ended the night with five tackles and a sack in addition to the interception. The Wolverines will look to Sullivan against Oklahoma since they’ll be missing Jaishawn Barham in the first half.
This play is a bit of a two-for-one, because how about the pressure from freshman edge Nate Marshall?! It looks like he’s already got some trust from the coaching staff, and he flashed promise against the Lobos.
Underwood connects with WR Channing Goodwin
Michigan had a one-dimensional offense in 2024 and is hoping to change that this season. Right before halftime on a 3rd-and-14, Underwood found wide receiver Channing Goodwin for a huge gain. These are the types of throws we’re hoping to see against Oklahoma later tonight.
Underwood looked composed on this play, as he helped the Wolverines march down the field at the end of the first half. If he can be a threat in the passing game, it’ll certainly help the run game, too.
