WHAT’S AT STAKE
Georgetown has won three straight season openers while Ed Cooley has won his last 16 opening games going back to his last two stops at Providence and Fairfield. Despite all the new faces on this years Hoyas roster, Cooley should be ready in year 3 to contend for an NCAA tournament bid. The Hoyas gained valuable experience playing over the summer in Canada and extended that more recently with two quality exhibition wins at George Washington and at Kentucky.
This is the Hoyas only tune-up before heading to College Park as the local series with Maryland is back and hopefully set to stay in the regular rotation. Malik Mack (All Big East preseason third team) and Caleb Williams return to Capital One Arena along with the much anticipated official debut of preseason All Big East second team selection KJ Lewis.
