Happy Thursday, Husky fans. The Huskies got some good news today when four-star defensive tackle JD Hill from Mission Viejo HS, CA committed to UW. The Huskies were able to land the talented pass rusher
despite a large push from several schools including West Virginia, ASU, and Utah.
Listed at 6’2” and around 275 pounds Hill has a disruptive motor that helped him have 13 sacks and 18 QB hurries through 10 games this season (including 5 sacks against Folsom HS). Hill, who is now rated by 247 Sports as the 13th best defensive lineman in the country and #103 overall, was also invited to play in the Army All-American Bowl in January. Hill projects to play the 5 tech for the Huskies and he should contend for early playing time because of his advanced level of technical skills and motor (he’s good at shedding blocks).
It’s been no secret that the Huskies need to bolster the talent on the defensive line and landing a player like Hill does that just that. When you combine him with four-star defensive tackle TI Umu-Cais, and four-star edge Derek Colman-Brusa you start to see the makings of a dominant defensive line for the Huskies. Hill is the 21st commit in the 2026 class and is the 3rd highest rated player in the class by the 247 Sports rankings.
