Tonight, your Dallas Mavericks are on National TV to face off against the Sacramento Kings in Wine Country. It’s a battle between two flailing teams, as the Mavs (13-23) have lost four out of five. Meanwhile, the Kings (8-28) haven’t won since beating the Mavericks last year. With an outrageous start time and two bad basketball teams, there is no chance this game will be normal. Thus, it’s the perfect time to refire our MMBets Game of the Week series. Before we get to this week’s picks, let’s review
the results from last time.
Last week’s results
Dallas 131, Denver 130
David: 4-0 (+$416)
Tyler: 0-3 (-$300)
David has once again done all of the work for the group project. Meanwhile, Tyler has lost 19 of his last 23 wagers in this article. That hit rate of just 17.4% is horrific. However, it is still almost as good as Brandon Williams’ three-point percentage this season (18.8%), so maybe we can draw inspiration from that one.
Overall
David: 20-15 (+665)
Tyler: 11-24 (-$1,236)
Overall: 31-39 (-$571)
Let’s just move on to this week, shall we?

Spread: Dallas -5.5
Over/Under: 232.5
Moneyline: The Kings are +176 to pull off the upset
David’s picks
- Under 232.5 points (-108)
- Russell Westbrook over 13.5 points (-130)
- Klay Thompson 3+ three pointers made (+136)
This is going to be a sluggish, late-night dogfight. The Kings are looking to right a five-game losing streak, as their last win came at home against Dallas just 10 days ago. The game total is too high for a a contest that features two teams who like shooting bad twos. Westbrook has an excellent matchup as Dallas lets guards get in the paint at will. Klay plays well against the kings and had four threes in their last matchup.
Tyler’s picks
- Naji Marshall to score 15+ points (+112)
- Anthony Davis to score 25+ points (-128)
- Demar Derozan over 18.5 points (+100)
Today is the day we get this ship back on the right track, because…
SQUAD RIDE (1-0 ALL TIME)
- Kings +5.5 (-112)
The spread is simply too high for a Dallas team that plays exclusively clutch games. Plus, this Kings team BEAT the Mavericks just a couple week ago. This number is wrong.
