Joaquin Buckley badly lost in the main event at UFC Edmonton, taking a massive knee from Mike Malott that put him out cold. Apart from issuing a statement promising to learn from the defeat, he also continued to discuss the events on a live stream.
Buckley reacted to the crushing loss, and as memories tend to be fuzzy after concussive blows, the welterweight looked genuinely shocked to see footage of his knockout loss for the first time.
“Dang boy. I know I wasn’t laid out like that for real,” Buckley
said after seeing a picture of himself out cold. “That gotta be bulls—. That’s got to be AI.”
“He caught me just like that, huh?” Buckley asked as soon as he watched the video. “Golly, f—k! I ain’t ever been out like that, bro. Yeah. that shit sucked. I can’t even imagine that was me like that. Damn. Got me.”
“I’ve been knocked out before. I used to always say though, ‘but I ain’t never been slept though.’ That motherf—r slept my ass.”
Buckley seems to be taking the tough loss in stride, and even joked about one of the viewers telling him to stop streaming and go to sleep.
“I already went to sleep!” Buckley responded with a laugh.
