Multiple reports have surfaced today that the Atlanta Braves have parted ways with director of pitching development, Paul Davis.
Davis, 61, had been with the Braves since 2020.
As noted by Baseball America’s Carlos Collazo, multiple
notable Braves pitchers have come through the system during Davis’ tenure, including Hurston Waldrep, Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach and AJ Smith-Shawver.
The Athletic’s David O’Brien adds the the expectation is that this is not the beginning of wholesale changes in their player development department.
A former college coach, Davis worked with the St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners in various big league capacities prior to joining the Braves. He was the Mariners’ pitching coach during part the 2019 season.
