Like his teammates, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich was trying everything to get the team going in the first half against VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal.
Unfortunately for the Bavarians, not much was working.
After halftime, though, Bayern Munich was on-point and used a three-goal barrage from Harry Kane to run away with the DFB-Pokal championship. For the first time since 2019/20, Bayern Munich could hoist the cup and Kimmich said it had everything to do with the team’s second half efficiency.
“Everyone was happy that we were finally back in Berlin. That’s something very special. A very positive dynamic has developed this season, so it was important for us to give something back. The first half was very evenly matched; VfB actually got into the game better. Generally, we didn’t have that many scoring opportunities in the first half. In the second half, we were very efficient. We played very well and confidently,” said Kimmich (as captured by FCBayern.com).
