It’s the final week of the regular season in college football for Notre Dame and the rest of the country, and there are all sorts of things up for grabs when it comes to the playoffs. Sitting at #9, there are still plenty of ways for the Irish to move up to be at home for the first round of the playoff, and there are a few other ways they could not be playing in the playoff at all (which is very unlikely).
The kickoff time this week is 10:30 PM so Notre Dame fans will have almost 11 hours of other
action to take in, and there a large number of games that could affect the Irish. There is also a heavy dose of action on Black Friday as well. So… here they are. The team highlighted with BOLD print is the team you don’t have to cheer for, but a win either helps or “doesn’t hurt” the Irish. There are more than a handful of scenarios that could change a few of these rooting interests — but that gets complicated. This is just a simple checklist.
FRIDAY
Ole Miss VS Mississippi State
Utah VS Kansas
Georgia VS Georgia Tech
Texas A&M VS Texas
SATURDAY
Ohio State VS Michigan
Texas Tech VS West Virginia
Pitt VS Miami
UCF VS BYU
Oregon VS Washington
LSU VS Oklahoma
Vanderbilt VS Tennessee
Virginia Tech VS Virginia
Alabama VS Auburn
Regardless of scenarios, I think it’s pretty safe to say the teams in bold are the ones that can help. The real fun part is that Notre Dame really isn’t living and dying on a single game, so we can have fun with a couple of handfuls of action.
