The Pittsburgh Steelers proved once more that Thursday nights are where they go to lose games. The Steelers are now 1-6 in their last seven Thursday night games after falling to the Cincinnati Bengals 33-31, and their defense had a night to forget.
The Steelers allowed 470 yards of offense, the most they’ve allowed in over three years, as Joe Flacco and Ja’Marr Chase ate up Pittsburgh’s secondary. While Chase had 16 catches, Cam Heyward says it’s the defensive line to blame for the poor outing.
“It’s
not the secondary,” Heyward said via Brooke Pryor. “That’s a cop-out. I think the front line, we got to control the line of scrimmage a lot better. I’m pissed off. We didn’t take care of our job … they were last in rushing, and the way we gave it up today that takes the cake. We’ve got to stop the f**king run. That’s as simple as that.”
The Bengals entered the game as the NFL’s worst run offense, averaging less than 60 yards per game, and they ran for nearly 150 yards while Chase Brown averaged almost 10 yards per carry.
