Bayern Munich’s 5-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League will mostly be remember for the goals scored and the wild back-and-forth nature of the contest. However, there were some numbers that helped put more context into some of the finer details of the match.
The struggles of Neuer
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who did not have a save, scuffled and the ratings told the story:
It was not just about the stops, though, as Neuer’s distribution was poor as well. Clearly, Neuer will be looking for a big rebound next week.
Dribbling, dancing
Michael Olise was a menace for PSG to deal with, but just how much a problem was he? Check out this stat on dribbles:
Kvaratskhelia was a problem
Bayern Munich had zero answer for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was a dominant figure. Even though Ousmane Dembélé was UEFA’s Man of the Match, it was very clear that Kvaratskhelia was the biggest difference maker for PSG:
The Big Three
This is…wild:
In the league, Kane has 33 goals and 5 assists in the Bundesliga, Olise has 13 goals and 20 assists, and Díaz has 15 goals and 16 assists.
Overall, Kane has 54 goals and 7 assists, Olise has 20 goals and 29 assists, and Díaz has 26 goals and 21 assists.
That is all nothing short of incredible — and those three will have to take over the return leg in order for Bayern Munich to move on.
