As we know, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle during the final plays of their thrilling comeback overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional
Round of the playoffs. After the injury, there was some conflicting information on the severity and timeline, but according to GM George Paton, Nix is ahead of schedule and will be ready for the start of OTAs.
Paton told Klis that Nix is “ahead of schedule” and said that Nix is: “Running, he’s jumping. Really proud of how he’s attacked rehab. He’s done a great job. He’ll be ready for OTAs.’’
This is obviously great news because this is an important offseason for Nix and the Broncos. The third year is typically when quarterbacks make that big jump. The Broncos have a young offense, and it gives Nix time to gel with his young receivers and newly acquired wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Nix being sidelined would have stunted that growth a little bit, so I am glad he’ll be out there and, most importantly, healthy.
We don’t have a firm schedule yet, but the Broncos’ offseason program typically begins in early May, OTA’s start at the end of May and carry through June before the team gets some time off before returning for the start of training camp. So, we’ll have the Broncos back on the practice field sooner rather than later.
