A WWE Hall of Famer was set to be in attendance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Madison Square Garden last night (June 8), but wrestling fans in the United States spent their Monday afternoons wondering if the comedy wrestler who debuted for WWE a few months ago would be on hand for the New York Knicks’ attempt to take a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks hadn’t lost in 13 straight games, and have been one of the hottest teams in NBA Playoff history since
Danhausen uncursed the Knicks’ when they were down 0-2 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round.
Despite being in Europe doing WWE live events over the weekend, WWE’s Very Nice, Very Evil demon-person did make it to the Garden last night. He did some pre-game press with ESPN:
And rubbed shoulders with some of the famous New Yorkers in attendance as the Knicks tried to give their fans the NBA title they’ve been salivating for since the 1970s.
Unfortunately, it seems Danhausen’s curse powers aren’t as effective in person. The Spurs fought through the raucous atmosphere and fought off another New York comeback last night to win their first game of the series, and make Knicks fans a little less celebratory and a little more nervous.
The Miz’s nemesis is making like Bart Simpson-hausen…
And still hawking curses to professional sports teams. A few nights after cursing the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes before their overtime loss to the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the Game 3 of hockey’s Stanley Cup Finals, Danhausen is will to accept human monies from the Carolina faithful to reverse that curse:
Why would Canes fans’ pay Danhausen after the Knicks loss? Check out that disclaimer. There were some outside forces at work at the World’s Most Famous Arena.
We already told you about the WWE Hall of Famer in attendance, who the crowd wasn’t excited to see despite his long-time support of the team in orange and blue:
And there were a few other possible demons in attendance, seated with Larry David…
Not sure if that’s enough evidence to absolve him for the Knicks’ loss, but if I were Carolina I’d pay that Danhausen just to be safe.
