The question that is making the rounds this week about the Denver Broncos have been centered around their slow starts in games. Mostly that question has been directed at head coach Sean Payton, but quarterback Bo Nix got hit with one today as well when he was asked if he puts any added pressure on himself to get faster starts going.
“Not really,” Nix said on Wednesday. “Honestly, it can lead to a couple plays I did the other day, pressing, and you just make it worse. My job is just get the ball where
it’s supposed to get to, not force anything, take what the defense is giving me.”
It was a good answer and entirely true. The last thing we want Nix doing is trying to force things. He’s done a little of that here and there and the results haven’t been great. Nix can create plays on his own, but that is more instinctual football than it is intentionally forcing things. No, early in games we just need to see the offense execute better on early downs and get ahead of the sticks. They do that well in the second half, but for whatever reason suck at it in the first half.

Bo Nix, fourth quarter comebacks and game-winning drives
The Broncos pulled off another come from behind win, which was amazing for Bronco fans, but terrible for our collective blood pressure. After a poor first half, in which the team was down 16, the Broncos roared back to tie the game at 16. Coming into the game the Broncos were 5-95-1 all-time when trailing by 15 or more at the half. So now the Broncos are 6-95-1.
