According to an exclusive report by Footy Headlines, American sportswear giant Nike have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich star Michael Olise on a boot deal. The Frenchman has spent the last several seasons without a boot sponsor, preferring to match his shoes to the color of his kit.
Per the report, Olise has long preferred the discontinued Nike Hypervenom Phantom III, originally phased out around 2018. The player tracks down deadstock vintage pairs and has them custom painted by famous artists,
in an effort to match his kit to the competition he plays in.
This deal apparently coincides with a massive shakeup in Nike’s entire boot lineup. The Phantom silo is set to be discontinued by 2027, to clear the way for the return of the Hypervenom. Executives felt that there was a demand for the vintage boot, demonstrated by Olise’s commitment to it.
The FC Bayern star could therefore become the headliner of the revamped Hypervenom boot, following in the shoes of the original Neymar run. He apparently already tested a prototype white version of the 2027 Hypervenom boots in training with France back in June.
As for Bayern Munich, the fact that stakeholders Adidas were unable to sign one of the club’s key stars will sting a little bit. However, Olise would not be the first Nike athlete to play for Bayern, nor the last. A move like this could raise his already blooming personal profile, and could prove extremely lucrative for the American giants.
