Another year, another disastrous road trip to Pittsburgh for the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland played its annual game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday and lost for the 23rd consecutive time.
That ties the NFL record for most consecutive regular-season road losses against one team in NFL history, as the Browns now join the Detroit Lions, who lost 23 consecutive road games to the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 2014. It is fitting that the Lions are involved, as Detroit and Cleveland are the last
two NFL teams to go 0-16 in a season.
Perhaps the one saving grace is that the Browns will have to wait a year to claim the record for themselves.
It was all downhill from the start as the Browns turned the ball over on their first two offensive possessions and never were able to get anything going from there. Quarterback Deshaun Watson was sacked eight times, the running game totaled just 34 yards, and the Browns were just 4-of-13 on third down.
Basically, Cleveland looked like a team that had never played the game before. Which is par for the course when they face the Steelers on the road.
The loss drops the Browns to third place in the AFC North, and looking to pick up the pieces from an embarrassing afternoon.
It was also so very, very, exhausting.
There is not much more to say, so let’s just move on to today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Chow.
