Where to watch: MASN/MASN+
Probable pitchers: RHP Kyle Bradish (1-1, 2.25 ERA, 39 K) vs. RHP Luis Gil (4-1, 3.29 ERA, 39 K)
The disastrous, injury-riddled 2025 season will come to an end this afternoon, as the Orioles play one last game in Yankee Stadium before riding off toward a desperately needed offseason.
Having nothing to play for in Game 162 is nothing new for this group of Orioles. Last year, the O’s were already locked into the top AL Wildcard spot when they finished their regular season with
a win in Minnesota. Two years ago, Baltimore was already locked into the AL’s top overall seed when they lost to Boston in Camden Yards to close the 2023 regular season. Heading into today’s 2025 farewell, the O’s already clinched a last-place finish in the AL East.
The Orioles can play spoiler for their bitter rivals from the Bronx. After 161 games, the Yankees are tied with the Blue Jays atop the AL East with 93-68 records. Toronto won the season series, winning eight of their 13 games against the Yankees. This means New York needs to beat the O’s and have the Jays lose to the Rays if they want to secure their second consecutive AL East crown.
With former Orioles Kevin Gausman, Anthony Santander and Seranthony Dominguez now wearing Toronto blue, most of Birdland will be hoping the O’s can aid the Blue Jays in taking the AL East title. They’ll also be hoping for one last excellent outing from the rejuvenated Kyle Bradish. After losing much of the 2024 and 2025 seasons to Tommy John surgery, the Orioles’ former ace has dazzled in his five starts since coming off the IL at the end of August.
Over 28 innings, Bradish has put up a 2.25 ERA, a .184 BAA and a 1.00 WHIP, while also racking up an astounding 39 Ks. His best start of his comeback came last Sunday against these same Yankees, allowing only two hits and one run over six innings while punching out nine. Bradish has a strong track record in Yankee Stadium, posting a 2.25 ERA and .220 average against in three career outings—with the Orioles going 2-1 in those games.
A lack of Orioles offense doomed Bradish to a No Decision last week, so the O’s will hope to put up more than one run against Yankee right-hander Luis Gil. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year has been limited to 10 starts this year due to a lat injury that delayed his season debut until the beginning of August. Gil’s been mostly good since his return from injury, posting a 3.29 ERA in 52 innings. The 27-year-old struggled against the O’s in New York last year, giving up seven runs while only getting four outs in a 17-5 Orioles win.
