As the Chicago Bears prepare for their first regular season game of the year against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the first official team injury reports for week 1 have been released.
The Bears did not practice on Wednesday, so player participation listed on the injury report is an estimation. Just one player was listed as DNP (did not practice): QB Tyson Bagent (back).
Listed as limited were WR Rome Odunze (calf) and OL Ozzy Trapilo (knee).
Of note, Odunze’s injury is not the same foot injury he was dealing with last year. There was some misinformation going around the internet concerning the nature of his injury in recent days. The calf injury is something new.
Trapilo continues to work back from his season-ending torn patellar tendon injury, suffered in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers. The fact that he already has just a “limited” designation in week one is quite remarkable given the seriousness of the injury he sustained in January.
The Panthers also listed three players on their official injury report. OLB Patrick Jones II was listed as DNP, while both RB Jonathan Brooks and DT Bobby Brown III were listed as limited.
The Bears take on the Panthers this Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC. The game takes place at 12:00 p.m. (Chicago time) and will be broadcast on FOX.
