It will be a rematch of last year’s FA Cup semifinal in the third round of the League Cup, should Chelsea progress past Luton Town tomorrow night in the second round of the competition. That’s certainly a juicy matchup with plenty of recent and ancient history to it, especially as it would be played at Stamford Bridge.
Should we win tomorrow, this match would be played the week of either September 7 or September 14. And it would be one of six all-Premier League matchups, which could lead to some interesting
matchups later on in this year’s competition.
The draw, in full, for the third round of the League Cup is as follows:
Crystal Palace vs. Middlesbrough
Manchester United vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
Manchester City vs. Norwich City
Sunderland vs. Hull City
Ipswich Town vs. Arsenal
Coventry City vs. Aston Villa
AFC Bournemouth vs. Lincoln City
Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur
CHELSEA OR Luton Town vs. Leeds United
Millwall vs. Newcastle United
Fleetwood Town vs. Sheffield United
Everton vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leyton Orient vs. Bradford City
Reading vs. Brentford
Peterborough United vs. Barnsley
West Ham United vs. Fulham OR AFC Wimbledon
