The Dallas Cowboys are indeed all-in.
Word broke late Wednesday night that the Cowboys have executed yet another trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, this one for cornerback Joey Porter Jr..
Reports earlier on Wednesday (and Sunday) suggested that the Cowboys were interested in Porter. Clearly that wound up being accurate as they wound up pulling
off a deal for him.
Many assumed that this deal wouldn’t come to pass as Porter Jr. has been holding out (essentially) from operations with Pittsburgh over a desired new deal. It would stand to reason that the Cowboys are comfortable giving him one, and given the Cowboys’ history on this front this is why many assumed it wouldn’t come to pass.
The Steelers are set to play on Thursday night this week so getting this deal done now makes sense. The Cowboys play on Sunday in Houston, and it feels fair to assume that Porter will play. Time will clearly tell.
Porter is the latest headlining player to join the Cowboys dating back to all time following the Micah Parsons trade. The Cowboys have said that they believe in this team and they are really showing it with their moves.
Compensation is still not fully known, we will obviously update when it is reported, but for now early reports are that a second-round pick is involved.
As noted this is the third trade that Dallas and Pittsburgh have finalized in recent history with George Pickens and Broderick Jones being the players involved in the other deals.
How are we feeling?
