In the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich picked up an unexpected yellow.
While several players were on a yellow with the risk of suspension looming, most had forgotten that manager Vincent Kompany was also at the risk of getting suspended.
So when the Belgian got a yellow card for voicing his concerns, it came as a shock that he’d now been suspended for the semifinal. Many already knew that Kompany would be extremely uncomfortable in the stands — he is an extremely vocal coach
who prefer being on the sidelines. What he revealed after the game against Paris Saint-Germain came as no surprise.
“It wasn’t the position I’d have liked to watch the game from,” Kompany revealed, per @iMiaSanMia.
Then he shares a conversation he had with PSG manager Luis Enrique. “I told Luis Enrique I don’t understand how he likes to watch games from here,” he said, laughing. Then, on the game itself, Kompany called it a game for people who love football. “I liked the mentality of the team today. It was a game for people who love football,” he declared.
