On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts announced that the team has made practice squad moves, signing former Cleveland Browns running back Davon Booth and releasing Ulysses Bentley IV in a corresponding roster move.
The team also signed offensive guard Reid Holskey to its practice squad with its remaining vacant spot, bringing its taxi-man team to the maximum of 17 players (also re-signing offensive tackle Luke Tenuta last night after he cleared league waivers).
Regarding Booth, the 5,‘9”, 192 pound running
back was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Mississippi State by the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason, but was waived as part of their final cuts.
During 3 preseason games with the Browns, Booth had the following lines:
- Week 1 at Chicago: 4 carries for 53 total rushing yards (including a long run of 28 rushing yards)
- Week 2 vs. Buffalo: 3 carries for 16 total rushing yards; 2 receptions for -7 total receiving yards
- Week 3 vs. New England: 10 carries for 40 total rushing yards and a rushing touchdown; 1 reception for 4 total receiving yards
As a senior running back, he had 136 carries for 553 total rushing yards (4.1 ypc. avg.) and 7 rushing touchdowns, as well as 15 receptions for 165 total receiving yards and 2 touchdown receptions in 12 games for Mississippi State during the 2025 season.

Overview
Compact runner lacking ideal size and athleticism for the position. Booth processes run-lane development with adequate quickness and is a solid decision-maker when it’s time to find his lane. He has straight-line speed to threaten the corner but lacks wiggle or power to create for himself. Booth carries some third-down value, but it might not be enough for him to lock down a roster spot in the pros.
Due to his lack of relative size and explosion, he has a RAS of 3.68 out of a maximum of 10.0.
Given that Bentley IV had been with the Colts through two training camps and preseasons, it was a little surprising to see the Colts replace him on their practice squad—as he stood out in camp as a pass catcher.
Bentley IV appeared in 1 game for the Colts last season.
That being said, perhaps they felt as though Booth offered more developmental upside as a running back.

Holskey, 6-6, 306 pounds, participated in the Denver Broncos’ 2026 offseason program and training camp. He also spent time with the New York Giants during the 2026 offseason program. In 2025, Holskey spent time on the practice squads of the Giants and Houston Texans. He participated in the Baltimore Ravens’ 2025 offseason program and training camp after originally being signed by the team as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2025. Collegiately, Holskey started 53-of-55 career games in five seasons (2020-24) at Miami (OH). He earned First Team All-MAC honors (2024) and Second Team All-MAC recognition (2023).
At any rate, the Colts currently have a new running back and interior offensive lineman on their practice squad headed into the 2026 regular season opener.
