Xavi Espart says Barcelona are conceding too many goals despite their incredible start to the season which has brought 11 straight wins.
Barcelona were at it again on Saturday night, beating an in-form Real Betis 5-2 to maintain top spot in La Liga.
Speaking after the match, Espart was happy with the three points but wary that his team are giving up too many goals.
“We’re an attacking team, but I feel we still concede too many goals,” he told DAZN.
“We should keep clean sheets in important matches. Sometimes,
we’re so attacking that we leave ourselves exposed at the back. We have to improve defensively.”
His thoughts were echoed by Rodri, who also spoke about Barca’s backline afterwards.
“I’m very happy with the victory because this is one of the toughest grounds in the league and because Betis are in good form and played a great match,” he explained.
“I’m also happy with my goal, which gave us peace of mind when things were at their worst. The team always shows its attacking potential, but we’re conceding quite a bit, and that’s where we can improve.”
Barcelona finished the match with issues in defence. Hansi Flick confirmed after the game that Gerard Martin, Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde all picked up knocks and will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s clash with PSG.
