Rumors for the Day:
- According to Bodyslam.net, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre both pitched the idea to WWE officials for the title change that happened in the Three Stages of Hell match last night on SmackDown in Berlin. Both wrestlers believed the time was right for a major moment.
- Regarding Tiffany Stratton’s absence from WWE since early November, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says she has been “out of action with an injury.”
- The Observer also claims there are people in WWE who are “very high” on AEW star Powerhouse Hobbs.
- Per Fightful Select, there has been no internal memo or official communication within AEW that indicates Chris Jericho is actually gone from the promotion.
- Multiple outlets mentioned that several people in AEW were not happy with MJF’s Diddy promo on Swerve Strickland on a recent episode of Dynamite. It sounds like the other talent didn’t know about it ahead of time.
- As a follow-up to Santos Escobar re-signing with WWE months ago, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer was told that his creative plans are “something that fell through the cracks but they were talking about getting it back on track.”
- Meltzer also heard that prior to Matt Cardona’s return to WWE, he was “believed to have been the highest paid full-time independent wrestler.” One independent promoter said Cardona’s asking price was “$5,000 per shot.”
- TNA star Jeff Hardy told the Budget Cut Podcast that he’s been working through an injury since dropping the NXT tag team titles over two months ago. Hardy said he’s dealing with “two bulging discs on the left side of my neck.”
