Bradley Barcola rudely interrupted this otherwise quite quiet Sunday in the football-verse by rejecting PSG’s latest contract extension offer and thus putting himself front and center in the rumor mill. Liverpool may have already sprung into action right quick with a €120m offer, but that doesn’t seem to be enough to even get a foot in the door, let alone to get to the negotiating table.
According to reports, PSG are looking for €170m, a rather eye-watering sum even in current market conditions. In
fact, it would be the third most expensive transfer of all time, after Neymar’s €222m move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 and Kylian Mbappé’s €180m move there a year later.
It seems rather unlikely that Chelsea would ever be able to get involved in this bidding war, though L’Equipe report that we have had a bid rejected already as well. It’s not quite clear exactly when or exactly how much that bid may have been, but it for sure happened before all the weekend drama. Perhaps it was an alternative plan in case the Morgan Rogers situation didn’t work out. Not that it matters, because as per the report, it was Barcola himself who rejected our “sporting project”. That’s hurtful, Bradley! Right in the feels.
I guess let’s hope neither Liverpool nor Arsenal, not any other Premier League team pony up the cash. Don’t want to have to face Barcola on the regular…
