Barcelona scouting director Joao Amaral has lifted the lid on the type of player the club would be looking for to strengthen the backline.
There’s been plenty of talk about Barcelona signing another defender, with Brazil youngster Artur Dias mentioned as a possible target.
Amaral says that Dias is indeed the type of player the club are looking for and highlighted his strengths.
“We are working on identifying profiles that have these characteristics, such as those of Artur Dias: a fast player with a great
relationship with the ball,” he said, per Sport.
“That is the profile of the centre-back that we are looking to find to strengthen the team.”
Barcelona were tipped to buy a defender in the summer but ended up signing Rodri from Manchester City and focusing on the attack instead.
There’s been speculation already that Barca could look for a defender in January, particularly after Andreas Christensen was sidelined once again through injury.
