On Wednesday evening, a source confirmed to Arrowhead Pride that the Kansas City Chiefs are trading wide receiver Skyy Moore to the San Francisco 49ers. Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chiefs will receive San Francisco’s 2027 sixth round selection in return for Moore and Kansas City’s 2027 seventh rounder.
Schultz added that San Francisco turned its attention to Moore after failing to land former Houston Texans wideout John Metchie III, who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.
Moore never lived up to expectations in Kansas City after the Chiefs drafted him with the 54th overall selection of the 2022 NFL Draft. In the wake of that offseason’s shocking trade of superstar receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, Moore never found the explosive role some expected him to play. A combination of injuries and ineffectiveness in the offense often frustrated fans.
Fortunately, Moore’s best moments as a Chief came as a rookie in the 2022 postseason. After a disastrous rookie campaign as a returner, Moore came up big with less than a minute remaining in the AFC Championship game. His 29-yard punt return started Kansas City’s game-winning drive near midfield. He added a touchdown against the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
For his Chiefs career, Moore finishes with 43 receptions for 494 yards and a touchdown in 36 regular-season games. One of the few bright spots in Kansas City’s 33-16 preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Friday was Moore returning a punt 88 yards for a touchdown.
