Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribéry can look at his old club and see a dominant side ahead of the team’s Champions League tilt vs. Atalanta.
The Bavarians hold a 6-1 lead on aggregate and are expected to advance to the quarterfinals for a date with Real Madrid. Just like old times, eh?
“This Bayern side is simply too strong, they’d be a tough opponent for anyone. Right now, they’re the best team around, hands down. They’re at the very top in every aspect: technically, tactically, physically. They’re in a league
of their own; everyone could see that. In my opinion, they’re favorites to win the Champions League,” Ribéry told La Gazzetta dello Sport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked if this current version of Bayern Munich could achieve the same success as Ribéry’s great teams, the Frenchman did not doubt it.
“I hope so because Bayern is home. They win because they have a great culture, there’s a high level of professionalism, and at the same time, it’s just like a family. I’m happy to be considered a legend by their fans; we’ve made history with everything we’ve won. We did it together because then, as now, we had great values we shared together,” Ribéry said.
As much as no one wants to look past Atalanta, the reality is that some eyes have already started to gaze over at Real Madrid. Another massive showdown awaits…
