Hansi Flick has offered a positive update on Lamine Yamal after the Barcelona star trained away from his team-mates on Saturday ahead of the team’s La Liga clash with Valencia.
The Barcelona boss says that Yamal has picked up a knock but isn’t ruling the teenager out of the match at Mestalla just yet.
“He trained separately. He’s fine. He’ll travel. We’ll see,” he told a pre-match press conference. “He had pain from a knock and is training separately. But he says he’s fine and could play tomorrow.”
Flick also warned his players against complacency after seeing Real Madrid suffer their first defeat of the season on Friday night against Real Betis.
“It’s football, anything can happen. We have to focus our efforts where they matter. It will be tough. But we want to win. And we know it won’t be easy,” he added.
“When I watch training I always think that the quality of the team is very good, how we press, pass and compete. In each rondo you can see that it is the highest level but in the end the important thing is to win the titles in Barcelona. The quality of the squad is top.”
Barcelona have won their first three games of the season, while Valencia are yet to pick up a victory and have just one point so far.
