This game today is exactly why you don’t gamble on sports. The total for the Tennessee Titans vs. the Cleveland Browns game closed at 33. It felt like there was no way the game would go over that number.
Well, it did and by a lot, with the Titans winning 31-29.
It was Tony Pollard’s best day as a Titan. He ran the ball 25 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns. His first touchdown run of 65 yards was the longest of his career. That’s a pretty impressive day against the Browns’ defense, which came in ranked as the number one rushing defense in the league.
Cam Ward had the first game of his career throwing multiple touchdown passes. He ended the day with 117 yards passing with two touchdowns and an interception. The numbers don’t jump off the page, but against Myles Garrett and the Browns defense, that is a pretty solid day. Speaking of Garrett, against all odds, he had just one sack in this game. His pursuit of the single-season record will have to wait another week.
The win will knock the Titans out of the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft for now, but it is important for Ward and all of the young guys on this team to learn how to win. Speaking of the young guys, Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, and Gunnar Helm all have at least 30 catches. That is the first time in franchise history that three rookies have passed that number. There are some pieces here to build around.
