Turki Alalshikh, president of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, gave fans a first look at Night of Champions on June 27. The 38-second teaser, released on Monday, features several stars who were featured on the event’s poster, which began circulating online on Sunday.
The video mixes WWE’s best with scenes of Saudi nightlife and fireworks, teasing a “Night of glory” and a “Night of greatness.”
The biggest names include Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Rhea Ripley, all featured on the poster. Not on the poster but included in the clip were Randy Orton and CM Punk, both with their sights on Rhodes.
At WrestleMania 42, Rhodes defeated Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. After the match, Orton kicked him in the head and stood over the bloodied champion. Two nights later on Raw, Rhodes issued an open challenge to Punk for a title shot whenever he’s ready.
At last year’s Night of Champions, Rhodes defeated Orton to win the King of the Ring, while Punk challenged John Cena for the Undisputed title.
Last week, WWE announced it was returning to Saudi Arabia months after January’s Royal Rumble for Night of Champions. Tickets for the show at Kingdom Arena went on sale shortly after. The event is scheduled to proceed as planned amid ongoing regional tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
