The team is on the verge of clinching a playoff spot, which means we can start looking forward to some of the more microscopic level questions that have to do with putting their best roster together.
Rules for playoff rosters dictate that teams have to operate the same way in October as they do in the regular season. Thirteen pitchers to a side, thirteen position players. How those pitchers are used doesn’t really matter and since five starters are never really needed, we can probably look at the team carrying
four starters and nine relievers. On the position player side, things are kind of the status quo. We that, with good health, the starting nine will be the same that we have seen with regularity. Rafael Marchan and Nick Castellanos have spots, as does Edmundo Sosa. That last spot is probably one that requires a bit consideration.
It’s our question for the day: does the team carry Weston Wilson or Otto Kemp on the roster for the postseason? It’s highly doubtful that both will be the choice outside of Sosa’s or Trea Turner’s injuries being worse that we thought, but that doesn’t really give them a left handed option to choose from. Kody Clemens would have been a great choice here, but he’s in Minnesota hitting three home runs in a game. Presuming these two are the ones that the choice is between, who ya got?
