Former Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore is being charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering. His arraignment at 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor is expected
to take place Friday at 1 p.m.
These charges stemmed from an incident that occurred shortly after he was fired on Wednesday afternoon. The Pittsfield Police Department was dispatched to the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Road to investigate a reported assault. After being detained by Saline police for a period of time, Moore was later booked in the Washtenaw County Jail by Pittsfield police and remained in custody pending the review of charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
This incident occurred following the announcement that Athletics Director Warde Manuel had fired Moore with cause after an investigation revealed Moore had an inappropriate relationship with a member of his staff. Moore then went to the staffer’s apartment and as you can hear on the 911 dispatch audio, Moore had a knife, had been “stalking her for months,” and had threatened her before throwing down the knife and running away.
Audio also revealed that Moore’s wife called 911 and said he was “suicidal after losing his job today.”
