The Chargers shut the door on the 2025 season with their 16-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday night of Wild Card Weekend.
It’s a disappointment, but not a shock. The Patriots were the second
seed in the AFC and were inarguably one of the league’s better teams this season. It’s an incredible turnaround for New England, which will advance to face the winner of Texans-Steelers, and yet another offseason come too soon for the Chargers.
Elsewhere in the AFC, the No. 6-seeded Bills beat the AFC South winners, the Jacksonville Jaguars, ending the 3-seed’s incredible run. Since the AFC’s lowest seed was the Chargers, the Bills will now match up with the top-seeded Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round.
It’s on to the offseason for Los Angeles, and the questions the offseason brings. How will the Chargers address the interior offensive line? Which players will they target in the draft and free agency? They have a ton of cap space to work with this offseason, nearly $110 million, which gives them a lot of room to move this offseason. Here’s hoping those moves, whatever they end up being, leads to a longer postseason run next year.
