Seth Rollins’ stock is down after some shaky moments at Backlash. One sequence in particular saw Rollins try to land on his feet following a top-rope Frankensteiner attempt from Bron Breakker. Instead, he landed awkwardly. Though Rollins finished the match, he initially came up limping.
While he did not quite stick the landing, you have to hand it to “The Visionary.” The spot showed his
commitment to delivering in big matches, which he and Breakker did on Saturday night.
Respect.
That said, what the hell is Rollins doing? He’s a few weeks from turning 40. While that’s not a death sentence in pro wrestling, for someone with a history of knee injuries who just came off the injury list, it is a reckless risk.
Then again, when your entrance theme includes “Burn It Down,” at least he is consistent with the gimmick. Still, the behavior feels irresponsible, prioritizing short-sighted glory over long-term storytelling.
There’s a fine line between being “The Visionary” and being vision-less. By chasing highlight moments at the possible expense of his ACL, Rollins risks both his longevity and WWE’s long-term storytelling for a momentary pop that fans will forget by Monday.
