The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly called the Las Vegas Raiders about defensive end Maxx Crosby.
The NFL’s trade deadline is a couple of weeks away and comes on the first day of the Cowboys’ bye in November 4th. That is a Tuesday and Dallas hosts the Arizona Cardinals the night before.
The first Cowboys game out of the bye is also on a Monday night and is on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders. It sure would be something if Dallas had Maxx Crosby on their side in the building and would mirror the situation the Cowboys were in a few weeks back when they hosted Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers.
Maxx Crosby is one of the league’s top pass rushers and given the Parsons trade the Cowboys obviously have a need at the position. That trade also gave Dallas extra draft capital to serve as ammunition and while no one is suggesting that the Cowboys be silly with their draft capital, they have a quarterback in Dak Prescott and offensive weaponry playing at a level that demands doing all you can to maximize on this season.
The Crosby rumor is a specific name, but there appears to be a lot of smoke around the Cowboys and the idea of a trade in general. Consider what Adam Schefter said on his latest podcast episode about the team and trade deadline:
“I would say that the Dallas Cowboys are having conversations about moves that they can make before the trade deadline to try to improve that defense, just like Jerry Jones said that they could and would once they traded Micah Parsons.”
“I’m not telling you that they will be able to pull anything off, but I will not be surprised if we hear Dallas, at the very least, inquiring about the availability of various defensive players. And ultimately trading for one before the Tuesday, November 4th trade deadline.”
It stands to reason that Dallas is going to do something.
Will it be Maxx Crosby? That sure would be nice.
