According to a report from Sky Germany journalists Kerry Hau, Florian Plettenberg, and Patrick Berger, there is a really bizarre story emerging from the aftermath of Germany’s ouster at the World Cup and the stories surrounding Germany’s disappointing World Cup campaign just keep getting stranger:
Parts of the DFB team are said to have been dissatisfied with the physiotherapy care in the World Cup camp. At the request of several stars around captain Joshua Kimmich, a renowned external physio was even
summoned to Winston-Salem, who treated a two-digit number of players in a separate room near the team hotel.

If accurate, it is another troubling detail from a tournament that already raised serious questions about Germany’s preparation and leadership.
Medical and physiotherapy staffs are supposed to be trusted members of any national team setup. When players feel the need to seek treatment outside the official structure during the biggest tournament in the world, it suggests that confidence within the camp may have eroded.
Whether this ultimately affected Germany’s performances is impossible to know, but it certainly adds to the growing list of issues that reportedly plagued Julian Nagelsmann’s squad. Between questionable roster construction, tactical decisions, and now reports of internal dissatisfaction with player care, the World Cup exit appears to have been about much more than what happened on the pitch.
As more details emerge, the DFB’s postmortem only becomes more complicated.
