Unless his allegedly good and likely expensive lawyers can earn their pay by getting him out of it, Andrade may be stuck under a reportedly year-long non-compete triggered by his WWE firing last month.
That’s said to be why he disappeared from AEW programming after debuting on the Oct. 1 Dynamite as a member of The Don Callis Family. It’s also likely why he couldn’t work a scheduled match at the World Wrestling Council show Saturday night (Oct. 18).
But Fightful Select says he made the trip to Puerto Rico and addressed fans regardless. El Ídolo also addressed fans directly online in an Instagram Q&A, but he didn’t say much about his future plans. The only one he fielded that came close was about whether or not he’d consider a career outside of wrestling. Andrade had jokes:
Yes! Only fans. [Three crying laughing emojis]. joke amigo
We mean, he is a good-looking human. Andrade knows it… see his answer when asked why he doesn’t wrestle in a mask any more, like he did as La Sombra in CMLL before signing with WWE the first time. Another joke about it:
Because I’m handsome! Just kidding, it’s heavy!!
In other answers of note, the 35-year-old, third-generation luchador had nothing but good things to say about Rey Fenix, who he was teaming with on SmackDown when he was released:
This dude brought out my angel. When we were wrestling, we were always chatting about stories and where we’d go eat after. We were always chill and brainstorming new ideas. We became great bros.
Asked for five dream opponents, Andrade couldn’t whittle it down to less than seven. His ex-father-in-law’s still on there, as is OTC1:
Hulk Hogan, Eddie Guerrero, Ric Flair, Will Ospreay, Roman [Reigns], El Santo, [Antonio] Inoki
He had a very lucha libre answer when asked if he’s friends with Mistico:
I’ve been friends with the previous Místico (@cintadeoro) — we built a great friendship in WWE, and he helped me get to SmackDown.
I’m friends with the original Místico, the first Sin Cara (@caristico_official). He was my mentor in the Gran Alternativa tournament and supported me early on when I was LA SOMBRA in CMLL.
I’m also friends with Místico 2, now DRALÍSTICO (@dralisticooficial). We have a great friendship — he’s like a brother.
I’ve had great adventures with all three of them. Great people.
We’ll see if gets to work with anyone who’s ever wrestled as Mistico before next September. Don’t laugh off that OnlyFans, my man.
