A Collection of Quick Thoughts Pt. II
Endrick. Personally, I feel bad for Endrick (as I often do for most youth players who come to Real Madrid). Endrick was the next Pele. He was the Brazilian
youth that every European club was dying to sign. He was in every iconic photo. He was the future of arguably the biggest football nation. The destined child. The Chosen One.
And now he quite frankly feels mismanaged. He was rarely used in his first European season by Carlo Ancelotti. He was suddenly injured prior to the hiring of Xabi Alonso; therefore, missing his chance to impress the new coach during the CWC — where his direct rival has taken his place. And now he faces missing out on the World Cup because ironically the same coach who didn’t find much utility for him in his first European season now manages Brazil. As Carlo has so eloquently put it, Endrick needs to play to guarantee a spot — ironic.
I’ll be honest, I’m likely not the right messenger on behalf of Endrick. I’ve always commented on how he’s a brilliant talent and immensely brilliant talent but so entirely raw. He needs to be nurtured. He needs his football intelligence to be delicately crafted into a sharp sword rather than blunt force. I never rated him as much as the football world compared to how I eloquently lauded Estevao. Nevertheless, Endrick is one of ours so of course something in me longs for him to succeed. To succeed here. The boy who cried during his presser because his dreams actually came true.
But dreams swiftly can become nightmares and who knows whether Endrick will be another name etched onto the long list of brilliant talents who quite frankly made the wrong move. Maybe we’d talk about him differently if he had been signed by a BVB like Jude or a Como like Nico Paz or anywhere besides the team that currently features Kylian Mbappe in Endrick’s best role (guys he’s not a RW — stop lmao.)
Anyway, it’s probably in everyone’s best interest if he goes on a loan. I’m going to take the rumors below to be somewhat fake because the potential list of acceptable teams by his entourage is legitimately not real. None of those potential teams besides maybe the Portuguese ones would even play Endrick in their league title race so I’m going to ignore this entire premise. However, it’s clear that he needs to play. He needs to play somewhere. No one has magically become a world great from sitting on the Real Madrid bench. Each and every legend — played.
So to Endrick, this may be a potential detour in your journey to Real Madrid glory. But we all trust and know you’ll make it home.
