Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn shared his thoughts on this past weekend’s fight between Conor Benn and Regis Prograis, essentially cutting ties with fighters working with Benn’s manager Keith Connolly, and more during this media blitz. Here’s some of what he had to say below.
Hearn on Benn’s fight with Zuffa
“That was wild. I mean, that was like ‘how to piss money down the toilet very quickly’ by Zuffa Boxing, that one.”
On Benn’s manager
“Look, at the moment I have absolutely no desire to ever work with Keith Connolly again. Sometimes, in a years
time, in three years time, things can change. But right now, I mean we said to Keith Connolly recently, we withdrew our offers a couple months ago for Berlanga and Hitchins. I think we have one or two other fighters with him, which, you know, I think that’ll fizzle out now. But it is what it is.”
On why he thinks Dana White won’t bring back Benn for another Zuffa card
“Because it sets a precedent about how to pay fighters.”
