Bayern Munich has been feeling the pressure lately, but stepped up to deliver a 2-0 win away at Atlético Madrid in what was arguably the team’s most complete performance all season.
Shorthanded and wounded after dropping points at the weekend in Der Klassiker, Bayern showed no signs of bowed heads on Tuesday in a decisive Champions League league phase victory.
“We always stick together, stand united and have an answer to everything,” Bayern captain Manuel Neuer stated after the match (captured via

Atlético are also just two points behind Barça in the league. So not everyone necessarily expected this. To deliver a performance like that and respond to those doubts is sensational.”
The 40-year-old keeper, himself fresh off the comeback trail from injury, delivered a sterling performance and notched a clean sheet as he continued to climb the Champions League appearance charts — surpassing Argentine great and long-time FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi with today’s start:
Bayern and Neuer are back in action at the weekend against Bundesliga foe Mainz 05.
