The Chargers remain winless following a 24-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week Three.
If you weren’t already down for the tank after their first two losses, then maybe the debacle that was Sunday has you ready and willing to accept the unfortunate reality.
After dropping to 0-3, the Chargers left Sunday currently in possession of the fourth pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The Texans, Buccaneers, and Titans are the three teams ahead of them, in descending order.
There are some real blue chip players at the top of this year’s draft class and the one shining gem at the top is none other than Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. However, it’s looking more and more like a team will have to use the first overall pick in order to land his services, barring QB-needy teams finding their way back up into the top five.
The Chargers could also do with one of the class’s top edge rusher in Dylan Stewart of South Carolina (although he was just suspended indefinitely) or Texas’ Colin Simmons. Indiana receiver Charlie Becker is also looking more and more like a top-10 pick and then there’s still Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore who would be surefire top-five pick if it wasn’t for the numerous quarterbacks jockeying for position near the top.
If the Chargers do end up landing anywhere in the No. 3-No. 7 range of next year’s draft, there will be a very good player at a position of need available.
