Our thoughts and prayers are with freshman linebacker Ethan Pritchard; he’s in stable but critical condition after being the victim of a shooting
Chip Patterson from CBSSports and the Cover 3 Podcast predicted how he thinks the AP Poll will shake out today and if he’s right FSU should be debuting at No.17.
17. Florida State (NR): It’s entirely possible that No. 17 is too low for Florida State, which did get enough attention from the AP voters in the preseason poll to finish 40th in voting points. The
ceiling for Florida State’s jump after beating Alabama 31-17 could be as high as No. 13 or No. 14, but we’re projecting the response is more negative for the Crimson Tide than a launch pad into the top 10 for FSU.
Earl Little Jr, Thomas Castellanos, the entire running back room; all three were impressive and dominant in the week 1.
The running back room will be missing one key contributor as Roydell Williams is expected to miss sometime after suffering an injury vs. Alabama.
The football team has already moved on to East Texas A&M
although Coach Norvell is kind of pissed about the amount of points FSU left on the field but the fans are likely still riding high from FSU’s surprising yet dominating win over Alabama.
The first drive of the game turned out to be the most important, tone-setting one:
The ACC fined FSU for storming the field in a non-conference game.
So how did they do other than lining it up and running down their throats? Well, it started with FSU’s backfield motion keeping Alabama’s second-level defenders from trusting their eyes and once they lost the trust that’s when they started getting ran over.
Recruiting:
FSU made a major move with 5-star 2027 QB Kavian Bryant from Westwood, Texas. He was one of over 100 recruits who were on campus for the victory over Alabama.
The immediate proof of concept has FSU back in the fold and discussion for many elite recruits and one particular RB in 2026.
There hasn’t been much buzz regarding Florida State and the prized tailback out of Chaminade-Madonna, but the dialogue has always been there. Even when Cooper announced for Texas on July 20, he told the Florida State staff he wants to see them win this fall. One major box was checked on Saturday in beating Alabama. The Seminoles just have to keep it rolling and, if they do, I could see them becoming one to watch for Cooper heading into the Early Signing Period. Florida State is the program he grew up following.
Two years ago Texas beat FSU for CJ Baxter can FSU return the favor by flipping Derrek Cooper?
