The Wisconsin Badgers have been prioritizing youth and untapped potential so far in the transfer portal, but they were in need of an experienced nickel cornerback. Well, they got one, as Arizona State
Sun Devils transfer Javan Robinson committed to the program on Monday.
Robinson, a redshirt junior in 2025, was a multi-year starter for the Sun Devils who totaled 85 tackles, 12 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and three interceptions over the past two years.
He’s been especially stellar in the run game, fitting Wisconsin’s mold of cornerbacks who fit well in run support. Last year, the Badgers had two of those with Geimere Latimer and D’Yoni Hill.
At 5’11, 180 pounds, Robinson likely fits better as a nickel corner as opposed to the outside corner spot where he’s seen more snaps the past few years. Wisconsin has targeted similar players for that nickel spot. But, they may need to add another experienced cornerback to the room, so we’ll see where that player fits in the mix.
Robinson had a good year in 2025, but was frequently targeted playing opposite of standout cornerback Keith Abney Jr., so that came with some big plays given up. But, he’s a good and needed addition for this room, as new cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples has been quite busy so far with portal additions.
Robinson is the third cornerback Wisconsin has added early in the transfer portal cycle. The Badgers also landed Oklahoma State transfer Eric Fletcher and Florida State transfer Cai Bates. Both were redshirt freshmen in 2025 with three years of eligibility left.
