Joey Porter Jr. is performing exactly how the Dallas Cowboys wanted him to on his first several games, and it’s making the reality of him remaining with the team past 2026 more possible. This Sunday, the Cowboys will play the Arizona Cardinals, a team they haven’t beaten since 2017.
Quinnen Williams will look to continue his recent ascension in his play. Also, it doesn’t appear that Dallas will add any players of significance via a trade.
Joey Porter Jr. has lived up to Cowboys’ expectations, so is he in their long-term plans? – Jon Machota, The Athletic
Ever since Joey Porter Jr. step on the field for the Cowboys,
he’s shown why they traded for him. The organization appears to want him for the long haul as a result.
Although the Cowboys still have arguably the NFL’s worst defense, Porter has been one of the few bright spots. It’s not difficult to see why they would want to sign him to a long-term deal after the season. If the two sides are unable to reach a long-term agreement, the Cowboys could choose to use the franchise tag on him. That could lead to an even tougher decision to make with receiver George Pickens, who is playing this season under the tag.
Either way, it doesn’t sound as if they want Porter to be a one-season rental.
Caleb Downs explains what it will take to break Cardinals curse – Patrik Walker, DallasCowboys.com
The Cowboys haven’t beaten the Cardinals since 2017. Rookie safety Caleb Downs gets candid about how they can change that.
To get the victory and break the ongoing curse that’s allowed Arizona to haunt Dallas for years, Downs and his defensive compatriots will have to focus on shutting down all-world tight end Trey McBride and rookie first-round pick Jeremiyah Love, the latter returning from injury to take on the Cowboys and, in the process, to put their run defense to the test.
“I think they do a good job with their motions. and they run the ball well.” said Downs. “They have a lot of different personnel groupings, like the Rams did a couple years ago. I think, all of that combined, they have a good offense, and we’re gonna have to do our jobs.”
George Pickens questionable vs. Cardinals who are down multiple 1st-round picks – Nick Harris, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Multiple ailments have put the status of George Pickens in question against the Cardinals. Also, multiple players on the Cowboys will miss Sunday’s game.
The Cowboys will be without wide receiver and kick returner KaVontae Turpin and linebacker Dee Winters for the second consecutive week after both suffered injuries in the loss to the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18. Turpin was hurt on the opening kickoff after taking a hit to his ribcage. While he has participated in warm-ups and stretching this week at practice, he has been listed as a non-participant. Winters is dealing with an Achilles strain that has yet to see him hit the practice field in any capacity in the last two weeks.

Quinnen Williams still not himself one year into Dallas Cowboys tenure but getting there – Clarence Hill, DLLS
Dallas needed Quinnen Williams to pick up his play, and he’s done just that over the last several weeks. However, he’s still working to get back to the peak of his powers.
Williams has also tallied a sack in three of his last four games
Just like the Cowboys defense, Williams is improving.
But he says he’s not there yet. He’s still not quite himself yet roughly one year after coning to the Cowboys in a mid-season trade with the New York Jets.
“Oh, not yet,” Williams said. “Not yet. At all. I feel like I got some things I need to fix. And just keep going in the right direction. And hopefully soon I have that game that I feel like I’m myself soon.”
Cowboys’ Jerry Jones downplays trade rumors: ‘Would have to be a dynamic situation’ – Todd Brock, Cowboys Wire
Jerry Jones has spoken several times about the Cowboys being active before the trade deadline. That tune has changed a bit.
“I don’t feel like I have to ‘keep up’ with anybody,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan during a phone-in on Friday.
“Where we are right now, it would have to be a dynamic situation for us to give up picks because we’ve used some of those picks in our future. On the other hand, I don’t like the idea of giving up, really, anybody that somebody else might want. We need him as bad as they do.”
