Barcelona remain four points clear at the top of the La Liga table thanks to a scrappy 1-0 win away to Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés on Saturday night. The Catalans didn’t have their best stuff on the night as a team, but their two best players came to the rescue as Pedri — who came off the bench at halftime and completely changed the game — assisted Lamine Yamal, who scored a beautiful winner as his incredible run of form continues.
The two offered yet another reminder of their remarkable quality,
but Barça’s performance as a whole, especially in the first half without Pedri, could be a cause for concern. One could argue that Barça struggled on Saturday mostly due to injuries and rotations, but it’s also safe to wonder if the Catalans need the midfield Wizard and the teenage superstar to carry them to success more than we thought.
